“Creativity occurs in the moment, and in the moment we are timeless.”
Julia Cameron

Hi beauties! We are so happy to explore the juicy subject creativity, and it is perfect to do in the chaotic energy of summer.

We like to think we are placed on this earth with infinite creative potential, but somewhere on the way we lose sight of our originality. In today’s world, it’s easy to get distracted, follow someone else’s lead, lose ourselves in routine, and avoid the creative process altogether. We think we understand how things should be based on our previous experiences, but this can often block us from seeing or creating something new.

Being in the flow of the creative force isn’t an airy-fairy concept. It’s a real and tangible state of being. For example compare the times when you have been inspired to create: to write, draw, dance, sing, create a business, decorate your home, have babies. Feel the way you felt then: excited, with all of your senses heightened, and your ability to give yourself over to the creation of your dreams.

Now, think of times when you haven’t been inspired: moments of writer’s block, trying to sing a song with your throat chakra closed up, feeling stuck in your business development, unable to see the way forward.  One is a moving river current; the next, a dry river bed.

Many therapists have said that the moment of creativity – when we are so focussed on what we are creating we don’t think of anything else – actually provides healing. It is like a mini-vacation from our daily lives. It refreshes us and brings a sense of peace and calm that we get from a holiday. It is said healing because at that moment all our attention is focused on something outside of ourselves. We are expressing thoughts and emotions that can be hard to put into words

Other benefits of awakening your creativity:

  • Lowers stress and anxiety
  • Relaxes you and you feel calmer and happier
  • Connects you with yourself on a deep level, no matter what you are going through
  • Can help you find meaning in life experiences
  • Can help you cope with grief and loss
  • Can help form new connections with others
  • Shift your focus away from pain or stressful thoughts to activities that are soothing, enjoyable and fun
  • Create something unique that gives you a sense of pleasure and accomplishment

Creativity needs time and space and dosen´t happen in a high stress enviroment. So use the tools you know to get out of that state and focus on being present and in the flow. To ignite you creativity you can use meditation, breathwork, taking time to create something or nothing, movement, free writing and more.

A powerful way to tap into the authentic inspiration and boundless creativity potential is to invoke your higher Self.

Here is our favourite manifesto on creativity from on of our all time favourite books, that will be the book of the volume, Artist Way.

Assignment: Time travel

In a notebook describe below three old enemies of your creative self worth. Please be as specific as possible in doing this exercise. Your historic monsters are building the blocks of your core negative beliefs. (yes, what sara said to you in the fifth grade counts, and what she said matters, put it all in). This is your monster hall of fame (although these can be people you love that just said something that blocked your creativity)). More monsters will come to you as you start exploring your creativety and where you are blocked. To unleash your creativity its important to acknowledge creative injuries and grieve them. Otherwise they become creative scar tissue and block your growth.

*from the book Artist way

“Creativity and love come from your sensitivity. A developed sensitivity in character gives you commitment. Commitment in turn gives you more sensitivity of character. They are interrelated. That is how this planet runs.YB

Creativity meditation & talk

There is a powerful mantra in the Kundalini Yoga tradition that opens the primal force of creativity in your life. This mantra for creativity is said to invoke the flow of the creative force.

The mantra is Har Haray Hari Wahe Guru and is in four parts that represents the cycle of creative activity. Har represents the seed potential of Infinite Creativity. Haray represents the flow of the Creative Force. Hari represents the manifestation of the Creative Force. Wahe Guru is an expression of joy and wonder at the beauty of this process.  It’s like saying “Idea. Flow. Here it is. Wow!” and translates to “All aspects of the Creator are Bliss.”

“This mantra uses the powerful creative flow to create a fast-moving, energetic river that wasehes away the debris of obnoxious situations in our lives. It breaks through creative blocks and awakens within you your own creative potential.”

The meditation itself in the video starts at minute 10:45 in the video
