The Venus Letter: Travel like a Goddess

As the world softens into summer, many of us are packing our bags, shifting our routines and heading out on vacation. But let’s be honest;  while it’s beautiful to get away, it’s also easy to lose touch with the little rituals that help us feel radiant, grounded and fully ourselves.
So in this week’s Venus Letter, we invite you to reframe summer vacation, not as a pause from your life, but as a full extension of it. A chance to reconnect with beauty, presence and all of life’s pleasures in the simplest ways.

How to Travel Like a Goddess

We both love summer: longer days, sunkissed skin, salty hair, more time with our families and spontaneous dinners with friends (preferably outside). It’s juicy, it’s sometimes very chaotic and it’s full of magic, if you let it be and embrace the flow of it.
Here’s how we keep a soft structure around our travel days so we don’t lose ourselves in the chaos:
1. Pack light, but bring meaning
We always slip a few sacred tools into our carry-on: a tiny candle, sage or a palo santo stick, a silk scarf or a lace dolly that doubles as top, skirt or hair wrap. A travel-sized scent that becomes this summer’s memory, a hydrating face mist (we love rose water with glycerin), our favorite herbal tea (to avoid sad airport/gas station coffee), and a tiny journal for thoughts or quiet mornings. It doesn’t take much, just a little bit of intention.
2. Create a vacation altar
Yes, even in a tent or Airbnb! We love making a mini moment with a few personal objects: a quote, a crystal, a shell, your signature oil, your skincare, your supplements or your baby’s tiny sandal. Something that says, this is me. We always pack a book that nourishes or inspires and love to listen to audiobooks during walks (check out our book recommendations in The Ritual Club) or just the sounds of nature (often with a stroller or baby carrier).
3. Begin or end each day with a ritual
There’s so much juiciness in anchoring yourself, even for five minutes, wherever you are. We love the little things, like lighting a beewax candle or burning a palo, breathing deeply and feeling gratitude (even if the toddler just threw sand in someone’s snack). Beginning the day with lemon water and writing a few lines in a journal. A sip of tea with no phone. A pause to feel the sun on your skin. That’s presence and that is the power of truly enjoying life.

Beauty Rituals for Sacred Travel

As you know we love our venusian things and practices. So even with a small suitcase, beauty doesn’t have to get left behind. These simple rituals help us feel grounded, glowy and held, no matter where we are:
• Towel drybrush.
We do not skip a day with our drybrusing. No room for a dry brush? Use a hand towel in firm, circular motions toward the heart to get your lymph moving and gently energize your body before a shower or a dip in the pool.
• Oil with intention.
Post-swim or post-shower, warm a few drops of body oil or THE BALM between your hands. Breathe deeply. Apply like a prayer to your skin. Breathe in the scent.
• Face Massage.
Use your fingers or a small handy face tool (like our ritual shroom) to softly sculpt your face after applying serum or oil. No mirror, no technique, just intuition and a loving touch. Release any tension you might have in your mind or body.
• Hair as Ceremony.
Whether it’s braids, a scarf or a slick bun, how you do your hair is a chance to check in. What feels beautiful today? Even wash day can be divine and doing your children’s hair can be a sacred act of connection.
• Mist Breaks.
Rosewater or aloe mist = instant shift. We both have a massive collection of face mists and ALWAYS have one in our bags. We use it as a ritual to refresh, reset & reconnect. On a plane, after the beach, or before a dinner out. A little summer tip is to keep it in the refrigerator, especially for your morning mist!
• Travel Reprogramming.
Why not use the time on vacation to do light reprogramming to our subconscious? Pop in your headphones before bed and listen to subliminals; affirmations played just below your conscious hearing range (17,500 Hz) so you can play it anywhere and it just sounds like calming sounds. A dreamy tool for rewiring from the inside out without you noticing, especially when you’re sleeping in a new bed with new energy.
And One Last Thing…
You don’t need to do it all. Maybe your only ritual is brushing salty hair while dancing to a summer playlist. Or sneaking away for five quiet minutes with a summer drink and your thoughts. Maybe it’s a spritz of perfume that makes you feel like the main character that you are.
This isn’t about being a perfect wellness goddess on vacation. It’s about weaving magic into the mess, letting beauty live with you, in the laughter, in the late-night swims, in the sticky-sweet gelato on your fingers.
So wherever you go this summer, may your skin glow like golden hour, may your heart feel wide and wild and may you remember: your beauty isn’t in your bag (even though we love our pretty things), it’s in the way you live, love, and show up fully and authentically as you.
xoxo
